Netherlands Organisation for research in Business Economics and Management

NOBEM, Netherlands Organisation for research in Business Economics and Management, was founded in 2001 as a merger of the NOBO (Dutch acronym: Nederlandse Organisatie voor Bedrijfskundig Onderzoek) and the LNBE (Dutch acronym: Landelijk Netwerk BedrijfsEconomie). The main task of the NOBEM is to provide information about post-graduate courses and to provide a research platform for business economics and management in a broad sense.
NOBEM tries to function as a coordinating board for the activities of the different research schools involved in NOBEM. Although the programs and initiatives for workshops, research colloquia, and congresses is the primary responsibility of the different research schools; NOBEM will provide possibilities to distribute information on these activities and help, for instance, adequate scheduling, when/where needed.
NOBEM’s goal is to stimulate the scientific research in both Management, and Business Economics in a broad sense of the word. To reach this goal NOBEM organises and/or facilitates:
· Courses for PhD students
· Workshops and conferences
· Support of networks of researchers in both fields
· Information exchange in both fields,
NOBEM has also formed a network for PhD Researchers: PREBEM (PhD Researchers in Business economics & Management), their first conference took place in November 2002. Since 2001 is NOBEM a member of IFSAM (International Federation of Scholarly Associations of Management), and is since 2003 IFSAM's Secretariat
Internationalisation
Since 2003 is NOBEM the international secretariat of IFSAM (International Federation of Scholarly Associations of Management): www.ifsam.org. IFSAM is an association of academies of management from all over the world. IFSAM strives for the development of management research and teaching as a unified science and the advancement of management research and teaching all over the world. Important means to reach these goals are a biannual conference with a unique concept of reviewing papers (double review: one review is done in the country of origin of the paper and one review is done by the conference) and an annual council meeting (where among other things different academies have the opportunity to learn from each other. For more information or the latest news we refer you to the NOBEM of IFSAM web-sites.
NOBEM stimulates contacts with universities and countries outside the Netherlands. In 2004 the NOBEM concept is discussed with the German speaking countries in Graz. There is some serious interest in the concept. Flamish PhD. students are participating in NOBEM courses. |
