2025 Annual Review

President’s Message

Dear Colleagues and friends of IFSAM,
It has been another year of progress and exciting events. Although the geopolitical and economic environment is very challenging, colleagues across the management scholarly community have been focused on positive change, deepening our connections across the world, paying real attention to each other in a way that seeks to reduce hierarchy and inequities, and learning from and with each other.

IFSAM continues to support the work of our member associations and each has been very active and on events which have drawn colleagues together from across the world. Colleagues from the Board of Directors have been representing IFSAM at member association conferences, and it is good to see productive conversations which feed into our priorities and the topics we highlight in our international and global events and which inform the work of the vice-presidents.
We are grateful for the sage advice from our Advisory Council.

Through the Board of Directors and the Vice-Presidents and their committees, we have focused on increasing the relevance and participation in the leadership platforms, on developing our communications strategy, producing educationfocused work on AI, on ethics and AI in research.

There are far too many great activities for me to list here, but a selection are highlighted in the newsletter, and a big thank you to all the leaders, participants and colleagues who are making all this happen. Please keep coming forward with your ideas and suggestions and we look forward to seeing you at our online and in-person events.

For 2026, our global conversations will be further shaped by the manifesto for the future of management research and scholarly practice, and other important initiatives for the world management community.

We are also planning our inaugural Practice Conference during 2026 and this is just one indication of the move towards learning from, and co-design with, practitioners that is important to us all as we seek to enhance the relevance of our work.

Lastly, a special thank you to YingYing, Sandro, Rachel and Fiona for your unstinting dedication – it is great to work with you.
