At its meeting on 8 th September 2025, the IFSAM General Assembly approved to call for the following four awards in 2025.
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR FOUR IFSAM 2025 AWARDS
The International Federation of Scholarly Associations of Management (IFSAM) is pleased to invite nominations for these awards that recognize outstanding contributions to business and management research, scholarship, pedagogy, and service. Business and management are broadly defined, encompassing a wide range of subfields (accounting, critical management studies, ethics and corporate social responsibility, equity, diversity and inclusion, finance, human resource management, information technology / information systems, operations management, organisational behaviour / organisational theory, marketing, public management and governance, strategic management, etc.) and focusing on a variety of organizational forms and sectors of the economy, regardless of the ownership structure. Nominations, including self-nominations, must be submitted by January 16, 2026, with all required materials as outlined in each award category below. Submissions will be evaluated by dedicated selection committees established by the IFSAM General Assembly Committee on Awards. The awardees will be announced in Spring 2026 on IFSAM website and social media.

IFSAM Award for Excellence in Societally Relevant Management Scholarship
IFSAM prioritises published scientific research and scholarship in management that creates societal value, promotes and enhances societal advancement, and delivers an impact. The IFSAM Award for Excellence in Societally Relevant Management Scholarship was introduced in 2021 and encourages scholars to prioritize research which serves society. This award honours published scholarly work that addresses societal challenges at local and/or global levels and contributes to societal wellbeing. This might take the form of empirical studies focused on different types of organizations (e.g., traditional businesses, social enterprises, NGOs) and diverse groups and individuals (e.g., disadvantaged groups, employees, employers and other stakeholders) in relation to societal challenges and sustainable development goals. It might include studies that have influenced subsequent action taken by government and policy-makers or conceptual and theoretical work focused which problematize existing theoretical frameworks, values, structures and practices to better understand and interrogate grand challenges and emancipate individuals and communities.
Award Criteria
- Evidence of excellence in societally relevant management scholarship;
- Evidence of important insights yielded as a result of pursuing a societally relevant research agenda; and
- Evidence of impact of the scholarship on the field, on a line of inquiry, or on policy/practice.
Award Submission Material
- One-page background biographical note on the nominee/s;
- The files (in .pdf possibly) of the published scholarly work being tendered for consideration; and
- Maximum two-page retrospective statement on the ways their work has addressed societal challenges and impacts either the theoretical scholarly conversation and debate and/or the policy/practice context.
IFSAM Award for Excellence in Indigenous Management Scholarship
IFSAM is committed to advancing management research and education as a field of scientific inquiry and its advancement in a nation-specific perspective. The Federation created the IFSAM Award for Excellence in Indigenous Management Scholarship in 2021 with the aim of encouraging, recognizing and celebrating outstanding indigenous research and diverse and contextualized scholarship in business and management (all subfields included). This scholarship can be based anywhere in the world, although we are particularly interested in under-researched countries and communities and bodies of research where the intellectual tradition, phenomenon of interest, and the way that research is undertaken is highly contextualised. The aim is to recognize place-based approaches where there is a commitment to pursue insights and outcomes that are of value to community stakeholders.
Award Criteria
- Evidence of excellence in indigenous management scholarship;
- Evidence of important insights yielded as a result of pursuing a context-sensitive and place-based approach; and
- Evidence of impact of the scholarship on the field, on a line of inquiry, communities, policy, or practice.
Award Submission Material
- One-page background biographical note on the nominee/s;
- The files (in .pdf possibly) of the scholarly work being tendered for consideration; and
- Maximum two-page retrospective statement on the ways the body of work elucidates the specific research context and impacts the scholarly conversation and communities, policy or practice in that context.
IFSAM Award for Excellence and Innovation in Management Pedagogy
IFSAM supports the evolution of management education as a scholarly discipline and promotes its advancement in diverse national and cultural contexts worldwide. The IFSAM Award for Excellence and Innovation in anagement Pedagogy identifies, showcases and recognizes outstanding, impactful pedagogy business and management (all subfields included) from around the world. The award honours individuals or teams, that demonstrate sustained commitment to teaching innovation. Drawing on the Federation’s contextualized approach, we are also focused on insights into pedagogic approaches and models of teaching that are embedded within particular national and regional contexts.
Award Criteria
- Evidence of impact on shaping disciplinary conversations on management education.
- Evidence of impact on curriculum design, innovation, and student learning; and
- Evidence of impact on the advancing pedagogic models embedded in national or regional contexts.
Award Submission Material
- One-page background biographical note on the nominee/s;
- The files (in .pdf possibly) of the pedagogical work being tendered for consideration;
- Maximum two-page retrospective statement on the particular ways in which the body of work elucidates the specific context and impacts either pedagogic debate and/or the policy/practice in a specific context.
- Two letters of support from peers; and
- Two letters of support from students.
IFSAM Award for Exceptional Service to the Management Field Worldwide
This award will be made in recognition of significant and enduring service to the management scholarly community worldwide. The award may be bestowed on a person, team, or organization.
Award Criteria
- Evidence of the provision of sustained, significant, and effective service to the management scholarly community worldwide (i.e., over a period of several years and in more than one organization or country);
- Evidence of having impacted the field through significant initiatives; and
- Evidence of having contributed to the development and sustainability of scholarly organizations of significance to management scholars and scholarship.
[Please note that current members of the IFSAM Council (and its Committees) are not eligible and IFSAM Executives will not be considered until at least 3 years after completion of their term]
Award Submission Material
- One-page background biographical note on the nominee/s;
- Maximum two-page description evidencing the length, period, significance and impact of the service provided to the management scholarly community worldwide (indicating the duration, organization/s and country/countries;
- Two letters of support from peers attesting to the contributions of the nominee; and
- Two letters of support from current or former officers of two scholarly associations that the nominee has contributed to attesting to their service contributions.
